Wedding celebrant in Coventry

I'm Josephine Clare, an independent wedding celebrant based in Coventry. I write and lead non-religious wedding ceremonies from a blank page, built around the two people standing in front of me rather than a script handed down by somebody else.

That means your ceremony can happen where you want, when you want, in the words you want. Barn, back garden, city rooftop, woodland clearing, a Tuesday afternoon with eight people and a dog. If it matters to you, we can build a ceremony around it.

What a celebrant-led Coventry wedding actually looks like

We start with a proper conversation, usually over a cuppa, where you tell me your story. Not the tidy version for the relatives, the real one. How you met, the thing that made you sure, the in-jokes, the wobbles, the people who got you here.

From that I write a first draft and send it over. You read it, mark up anything that doesn't sound like you, and we shape it until it does. On the day I turn up early, look after the timings and transitions, and lead the ceremony so you can be fully present instead of managing anything.

The legal bit, explained simply

A celebrant ceremony isn't the legal marriage in England and Wales. Most couples I work with do a short registry office appointment separately, often with two witnesses and nobody else, then have the ceremony that actually matters with me on their chosen day, in their chosen place.

It sounds like extra hassle. In practice it's the thing that frees you up completely: no venue restrictions, no approved wording, no timetable that belongs to somebody else.

Rituals and personal touches couples ask me for

Handfasting with a ribbon that belonged to a grandparent. A sand or wine blending. Planting something together. A ring warming where every guest holds the rings before they're exchanged. A moment for the people who couldn't be there.

Dogs are genuinely welcome, and I'll write them into the ceremony properly rather than mentioning them once as a gimmick. Same goes for children, stepchildren and anyone else who deserves a part in the day.
